confetti waltz

by mountainscrumbletothesea

All that dancing in the moonlight couldn’t make you stay

I laid my longing at your feet and there it sits

you laid all the others and I just stood there while you made your play

Falling on my knees I gathered up my tattered wits

And though I tried to stuff them all inside my heart, it seems my heart no longer fits

Was this a game to you? A comedy?

I tell you no and in she flits.

Turn away, it is not tragedy

to me -I can look you in the eye

and tell you that it doesn’t  smart

enough to make me cry

or break my heart

or hear me moan

or watch our love turn into stone
